This print is based on an old quote that no one seems to know the author of but Einstein is often credited, it goes like this: "If we judge every animal by it's ability to climb a tree, a fish will live its whole life thinking it's stupid." For me this quote reminds me of my weirdness and that there are plenty of fish who also don't feel like they fit in or subscribe to the norm. Those who are afraid to be unapologetically themselves but do it anyways, those who are neurodivergent and have to unmask in order to find themselves, those who have lived through trauma and need to feel safe in order to be who they were born to be.
