Nautilus Soda Fired Snack Plate #2
Soda Firing is a very hands on process of spraying a liquid into the kiln at the top temperature to create a shiny finish on the pieces. This firing process takes around 28 hours and around 5 days from start to finish. As with all of my work its slow art and done in small batches so this plate was in a batch that took around 30-50 days to complete.
These little dishes are perfect for so many things; cookies, snacks, rings and jewelry, tea lights, incense, sage and other smudging herbs. Due to differences in firing and screen coloring differences the dish you receive may not be identical to the image above. The Dishes have a 5 inch diameter.
Nautilus (Spiral Shell) Pattern:
A perfect example of the golden ratio, which is in all things, can be seen in spiral images like shells, pinecones, sunflowers, galaxies, weather storms and many more. Symbolizing never ending growth and personal evolution this spiral never gets smaller and continues to grow forever! Power and strength in the self along with a will to continue forward as well as a reminder that we are also part of this world thus contain the golden ratio within us.
