Flower of Life Soda Fired Snack Plate #2
Soda Firing is a very hands on process of spraying a liquid into the kiln at the top temperature to create a shiny finish on the pieces. This firing process takes around 28 hours and around 5 days from start to finish. As with all of my work its slow art and done in small batches so this plate was in a batch that took around 30-50 days to complete.
These little dishes are perfect for so many things; cookies, snacks, rings and jewelry, tea lights, incense, sage and other smudging herbs. Due to differences in firing and screen coloring differences the dish you receive may not be identical to the image above. The Dishes have a 5 inch diameter.
Flower of Life Pattern:
This symbol consists of 19 overlapping and interconnected circles. As well as holding all 5 platonic solids within the pattern itself; cube, tetrahedron, dodecahedron, icosahedron, and octahedron. There are entire books written about this one symbol and all of its meanings and correlations so it is difficult to summarize. However this image is seen to contain ancient religious value depicting the fundamental forms of space and time. As well as the belief that it contains a form of the akashic record of all living things and is the visual representation that expresses the interconnectedness of all sentient beings.
